Innovative new technology from Switch2 Energy – that is improving heat network efficiency and easing the impact of higher energy prices – has been shortlisted for a major energy industry award.
The new ICON connected heat interface unit (HIU) is in contention for the title of ‘Domestic Heating Product of the Year’ at the HVR (Heating & Ventilating Review) Awards.
Richard Harrison, CEO of Switch2 Energy said: “We’re delighted to reach the finals of the HVR awards, having recently won a prestigious Energy Award for our ICON HIU. This UK designed and manufactured technology is improving heat network efficiency by up to 35%. That’s driving major cost savings, while also reducing CO2 emissions by as much as 40% to support net net zero delivery.”
ICON is designed for modern heat networks and improves efficiency through tight control of return temperatures and demand management.
The next generation electronic HIU uses open protocol Internet of Things (IoT) technology to outperform traditional mechanical HIUs – using real-time deep data insights to deliver continuous improvement and proactive maintenance.
ICON was developed to be the first connected HIU which would be simple to install and commission for contractors, but would also enable network operators to manage network performance remotely and simply.
The HVR Awards, known as ‘The Flameys’, have been recognising excellence in the heating and ventilating sector for many years. This year’s winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 29 September.
