Switch2 Energy has won the Housing Excellence ‘Supplier of the Year’ Award for its lifetime achievements in community and district heating.
The judging panel of housing specialists were impressed by Switch2’s customer service and resident engagement, and its commitment to tackling fuel poverty and addressing the needs of vulnerable residents connected to heat networks.
Awards judge Mary-Kathryn Rallings Adams, Deputy CEO of housing innovation agency HACT, said: “We were really impressed with Switch2’s focus on fuel poverty and by the excellent evidence provided from a number of clients on how they are delivering both efficient and reliable services. Their focus on customer service is particularly impressive.”
Switch2 is a UK market leader in community and district heating – providing an end-to-end service – from financial modelling, supplying equipment and commissioning, right through to ongoing maintenance, billing, pay-as-you-go (PAYG) and consumer relationship management.
Kirsty Lambert, Director of Switch2 said: “We’re enormously proud to be recognised as ‘Supplier of the Year’ to the housing sector over the past 35 years. We believe in putting the customer at the heart of community and district heating schemes and meeting their needs through excellent customer service and relationship management. Our aim is to deliver lower carbon, more affordable heat for all. Thank you to Housing Excellence for this prestigious accolade.”
As a UK market leader in energy metering, heat billing and pay-as-you-go solutions, Switch2 manages in excess of 240,000 energy bills per year. It supplies more than 70,000 homes across 500 community and district heating schemes – partnering with private developers, local authorities and housing associations to serve the needs of their residents.
The company’s smart metering partnerships with Sheffield City Council, and Newport City Homes (NCH) are dramatically reducing energy consumption. Residents at 6,000 homes connected to Sheffield’s heat network are predicted to reduce their total annual heat bill by £1.4 million, while more than 750 homes connected to NCH’s Duffryn district heating scheme have halved their energy consumption.
Switch2 was also shortlisted for the ‘Best App/Online Tool’ Housing Excellence award for its Quickpay App, which is used by more than 10,000 residents to simplify energy prepayment – making it as easy as topping up a mobile phone. This innovation complements Switch2’s smart metering technologies.
